On a thrilling Thursday night, the exclusive VIP event ushered in the grand opening of the skating rink, attracting a star-studded crowd with appearances by Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre, Gayle King, Will.i.am, Jimmy Lovine, Jeffrey Deitch, Alexandre de Betak, Hailey Benton Gates, Ruby Aldridge, and more with musical performances by Usher, D-Nice, Q-Tip and more. The event was hosted by Flipper's co-founders, Liberty Ross and Kevin Wall, who brought their vision of reviving the rink as the original Flipper's Rink was established by Liberty's father, Ian "Flipper" Ross, back in 1979 in Los Angeles.
